I’ve been investing in cryptocurrencies for the past four years, although it feels so much longer with all the recent advancements and improvements in the crypto space.
I would like to help you understand where you are with regards to crypto investing, based on different levels. I’ll let you figure out where you are at and what you should be looking for to hit the next level for progression:
Level 0
We all start out at level 0, also known as “no-coiners”. No one starts their investing or approach finance by jumping straight into crypto, at least not yet. When you think about money, centralized systems are your main exposure. I started here four years ago, and so does everyone else, we all start off at level 0.
To take the first step into cryptocurrency, you may want to read about what Bitcoin is, the fundamentals of blockchain and explore how you can set up an account on a crypto exchange.
Level 1
Level 1 are basic crypto investors.
You now have an crypto exchange account, you know how to buy Bitcoin or Ethereum. You would watch YouTube videos on crypto or read up on cryptocurrency news to keep updated once in a while. You make up the group that are FOMO-ing after reading or hearing about people making huge profits. You’re also probably FUD-ing when the markets make a sudden downturn.
If you are at this position, you may want to read widely in cryptocurrency, learn about altcoins and find ways to grow your crypto portfolio which would help you move to:
Level 2
Level 2 are slightly more advanced crypto investors. You know that crypto doesn’t just include Bitcoin and Ethereum, decentralization becomes an interesting concept that could apply to the things you do daily.
You know about altcoins and the potential gains (and losses) they can give you. You also know about how to grow your coins organically by earning interest ranging from 3-12% (some even up to 19%!) without the traditional methods of lock-in periods.
You can hold a conversation well with the level 1s and 0s as you share some of your experience with them. If you are at this position, you would probably be looking to go further down the rabbit hole, or are thinking of ways to grow your crypto portfolio faster.
Level 2 crypto investors who make it to the next level are those constantly looking for ways to improve their understanding of cryptocurrencies, improve their way of thinking and also improve their portfolio returns.
Level 3
When you start to understand how big the Cryptoverse is, you are at level 3. You start to view the world differently.
You understand how different the crypto networks are, pick up the jargon and lingo used by crypto investors and use certain tools built for crypto investors to get unique insights.
You use advanced methods to growing your portfolio WITHOUT the need to come up with more capital. While stock investors are making 20-30% in a year, you enjoy such growth in a month. That’s not including the compounding effect! (of course, your risk is also higher.)
Many might stop here and it is okay to be satisfied at Level 3, but trust me, once you are at level 3, you’ll want to dive deeper to:
Level 4
At level 4, you go to the far ends of crypto.
You find investment opportunities that yield 5x-10x gains. You understand how to manage the risks and rewards as well as know when and how to take profit. You are hungry and understand that the non-monetary are far more beneficial.
If you are at level 4, you probably have gone to the moon and back, a few times. And yet, you understand there are still more to learn and experience even at this level…pushing your understanding further brings you to:
Level 5
This is probably the highest level a crypto investor can be. You are fully immersed in the cryptoverse.
There is no dollars and cents, almost everything is valued in crypto, generally in ETH. You don’t look at a JPEG for being just a digital image, you see the underlying value it brings. While people talk about the Metaverse, you are already IN the Metaverse. You start to visualise how everyday processes or things can be digitized on the blockchain. You get into communities or form your own if there isn’t any and become “tribe leaders” of those communities.
Your goal have evolved from where you began at Level 1, its no longer about making money. That’s when you know you have reached level 5.
