We held the first run of the PowerUp Options Mastery Course on the last weekend of August, and it was a full house. This is a complimentary course in collaboration with Webull, offered exclusively to users who meet the account opening and funding criteria.
If you missed the session, don’t worry—you still have two more chances to join us. After that, we don’t have plans to run the course again, so if you’re interested, now’s the time to act.
In this post, I’ll walk you through some highlights of the session and address the common questions we received.
Can You Really Learn Options in Just 4 Hours?
One of the most frequent questions we got was whether it’s realistic to learn options trading in just a few hours. The short answer is: yes—if you focus on the right things.
This course is not designed to cover every technicality or obscure strategy. Instead, we zoom in on two core strategies that generate income and are accessible even to beginners:
- Cash-Secured Puts (CSP)
- Covered Calls (CC)
Cash-Secured Puts: Get Paid to Wait
We’ve all had moments where we wanted to buy a stock, but the price just felt too high. So we wait. And sometimes, we end up waiting forever—earning nothing in the meantime.
This is where cash-secured puts come in. Rather than waiting passively, CSPs let you get paid while waiting for your desired price. You sell a put option at a strike price you’re comfortable buying the stock at. If the stock never drops to that level, the option expires worthless, and you keep the premium.
If the stock does fall to your strike price, you take assignment of the shares—but you still keep the premium, which reduces your effective purchase cost.
During the session, Alex demonstrated how to read the options chain—one of the most confusing parts for beginners—and how to select a suitable strike and expiry. He used real examples to show his thought process, including:
- How to evaluate whether a trade offers enough return,
- What expiry range gives the best balance of yield and risk,
- And how to manage CSP trades based on market conditions.

Investing in investment products contains risks and investors may lose all their investments
He also covered the risk side of the equation: always having enough cash to take assignment and knowing when to close or roll a position. Risk management is critical, especially with options, which are naturally leveraged.
Covered Calls: Generate Income While You Hold
Most people think that once you buy a stock, you just wait for it to go up. But what if you could earn income while waiting?
That’s the idea behind covered calls. You sell a call option on a stock you already own, with a strike price you’re willing to sell at. If the price doesn’t hit that level, you keep the premium. If it does, you exit at a profit—plus you already collected the option income.
Alex shared several useful tips, including why covered calls work better on stable, income-oriented stocks, and not on high-volatility names like meme stocks or speculative tech. As he put it, “Covered calls shine when you value income stability over explosive growth”.
He also showed that he often closes trades early—especially when he’s captured most of the premium and the stock is moving sideways or down. And using Webull’s “covered option” function, he demonstrated how you can buy the stock and sell the call in one single flow—a neat feature for execution.

The Options Wheel: Income on Repeat
Where it gets really interesting is when you combine CSPs and covered calls into a full system—what’s known as the Options Wheel Strategy.
Here’s how it works:
- Start by selling cash-secured puts on a stock you want to own.
- If assigned, you now own the shares. You then sell covered calls on them.
- If your covered calls get exercised, you sell the shares and return to step one.
Rinse and repeat. This cycle lets you generate a continuous stream of income through option premiums—whether you’re waiting to buy, holding a position, or exiting.
We’ll be introducing a step-by-step playbook for the Options Wheel Strategy in the upcoming sessions, designed so even beginners can follow and execute it confidently.
If you attended the first session, you’re welcome to join the second and third as well. You’ll also receive the course recording, so you can review the material as many times as you need.
