I’ve served in the Finance sector professionally for a decade, and had started investing since I was 20. Today, I function as the co-founder of Cryptotrader.sg where my team and I serve the finance community as an educator of Cryptocurrency. We believe that anyone will be able to learn, how to profit from Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency.

Prior to this, I’ve been engaged by banks as part of their origination team for the Debt Capital Markets. We have helped clients such as HDB and UOB, issue bonds to tap the credit markets for funding.

My initial education and experiences were in equities, I subsequently proceeded into fixed income before finally entering into cryptocurrencies (aka alternative assets). My journey has given me a good “tour” around all main investment asset classes and provides me with the relevant skillsets to formulate unique investment insights.

My personal portfolio consist of 25% property, 25% in venture capital and 50% in crypto (of which 15% is in stablecoins). At the start of my cryptocurrency investing journey, I’ve only allocated 10% into crypto but it subsequently grew to form 90% of my investment portfolio. Over time, I’ve re-allocated profits from the crypto portfolio into other assets

Why do I Invest?

Freedom – the ability to do anything I want, whenever I want. Another reason, is probably due to the lazy man within me. Being able to deploy capital and make it productive, allows the multiplication my cashflow. Over time, this has allowed me to pursue my areas of interest.

In terms of my preferred asset class – I chose to invest in cryptocurrencies because I view it as a structural change. I’ve observed how trends have developed not just in finance and technology, but in investor psychology and habits as well. Having the right risk management structure in place allows an asymmetrical risk/reward trade.

In more straightforward terms, it means if I am wrong, I would lose 100% at most, but the trade turns out good, it could go +500%, +1000% or even +10,000%

Why do I Teach?

To advocate and educate

I think there are stigmas around cryptocurrencies. While that has improved with the institutionalisation of crypto, many retail investors do not understand how to approach cryptocurrency investing. The mindsets required and the systems/skill sets to engage a very price volatile market. It is a new world, that is entirely different the current TradFi (Traditional finance) ecosystem. Standard valuation methods do not apply well for cryptocurrencies, especially since most of them are early stage tech ventures as opposed to legacy businesses with predictable cashflows and revenue.

There’s so much development happening in this space, but so little is known to the mass public. I hope to bridge that information gap. I believe more investors can reap the benefits of a new and fast-growing segment

How do I invest?

My crypto portfolio grew immensely in the last 12 months, and now dwarfs all other asset classes. Personally, I like yield and engage most of my cryptocurrencies in yield farms. These are protocols that gives me passive income daily – and grows my investment portfolio over time.

The income generated have surpassed my monthly salary. I allow it to compound automatically and grow without the need to put in any more funds. I’ve also rebalanced my portfolio by taking profit and using the proceeds to purchase property in Singapore.

In terms of my style, I’m someone who practices the barbell investing strategy with my “aggressive allocation” parked into crypto. I merge that with my background in fixed income, and constantly search for ways to maximize the yield I can get on my crypto.

Lastly, because I have confidence in the overall trend of this asset class, I’m a long-term HODLer and have a system in place, to make sure I allow my early-stage investments to take root and grow.
