It is with sadness that Dr Michael Leong had lost his battle against cancer and passed away on 12 Feb 2016.
He has helped countless retail investors by creating an affordable stock data platform, Shareinvestor.com, and sharing his investment philosophy through his book and forum (pertama.freeforums.net).
I am one of the beneficiaries.
I read Your First Million – Making It In Stocks in 2010 and wrote a book summary of it.
His ideas shifted my perception on fundamental analysis – focus on valuing a company based on her assets rather than her earnings. This was counter to what finance professionals preached but the approach had made Dr Michael a successful investor.
He was one of the earlier influence for my investment approach. I attribute part of the CNAV strategy to him.
We had a few correspondences in the past. The last one was about his change in his investment approach due to a larger capital.
We have lost a great investor in Singapore.
Dr Michael Leong may have departed but his work and ideas continue to live on.
To his family, I extend my condolences. I thank you for the support you have given him to create an impact to our community. He will always be part of our memories.
