DBS Vickers is a stock broker in Singapore which offers equity trading via its web and app. It is part of the DBS Group so you can trade with confidence knowing that they are backed by a reputable bank.
DBS Vickers app has gone for a makeover and the new look is clean and modern! Let’s see what has changed!
DBS Vickers’ user interface refresh
My immediate response when I opened the app was, ‘doesn’t this look like DBS digibank app?’ I bet you would have the same feeling too. Digibank app has been one of the better user interfaces for banking and it has been put through many refinements over the years. So why not extend the success to DBS Vickers app too? Moreover, it gives a more coherent user experience across all DBS services.
But it is not just the look and feel of it that is similar to digibank app. You can login into DBS Vickers account with your digibank User ID! There’s one less password to remember. This is useful for passive investors as it is a chore to recall the brokerage login details when you need to access it.

The revamped dashboard has a clean look and there are 3 sections (Index, Holdings, Buying Power) which you can reorder the sequence to your liking.
Search is the most important function for stock investors as we want to navigate fast by zooming in to the stocks we are interested in. The function is now located at the top left hand corner. The search function has also been improved compared to the previous app version – you can search by stock name or its ticker and have the recent searches displayed.

On the stock information page, you can see that it is easy to add a stock to a watchlist and there’s a news section to tell you the latest happenings about the stock.

The order placing screen has been revamped too and you can see more details now. It also provides advanced market data such as market depth information for eligible clients.

Usability has definitely improved but that alone is not enough to get investors to use it. There must be utility and I will highlight four advantages in using DBS Vickers as compared to other brokers in the following section.
Advantages of using a broker that is part of DBS
The best thing is that all new DBS Vickers accounts are linked to a DBS Multi-currency account such as the DBS Multiplier. You no longer need to transfer funds to and from DBS Vickers. The trade settlements will be debited directly from your DBS bank accounts. Gone are the days where you need to make manual transfers and wait for the funds to be confirmed. How convenient! Similarly, you will see your bank account credited automatically if you have sold investments via your DBS Vickers account.
Second, you can see your brokerage account value consolidated in your banking app if you have connected your CDP account to digibank app. This gives you a good overview where your money is and how your overall financial portfolio is doing at any one point in time. With your investment data, the NAV planner in digibank app would be able to offer personalized investment recommendations to you. That’s a value-added service which you do not enjoy using other brokers.

Third, you get more transactions counted towards your DBS Multiplier account when you trade with DBS Vickers. If you currently only have salary credited to your DBS Multiplier account, you can consider using DBS Vickers for your equity trades and you will qualify for 2 categories and enjoy higher interest on your deposits.

It is important to note that it is only valid for “BUY” equity trades but you can use cash, CPF or SRS as your source of funds.
If you credit your salary of S$5,000 into your DBS Multiplier account, you will be receiving an interest rate of 0.50% p.a.
But if you bought S$10,000 worth of stocks, you will have a total transaction value of S$15,000 (including your salary of S$5,000), and qualify for a higher interest rate of 1.00% p.a. for that month. That is double the usual interest rates!
Fourth, you can invest your CPF and SRS funds in stocks via DBS Vickers. But you will need a CPFIS or a SRS investment account with a bank. DBS is one of the three banks that offer that. Again, it is just more convenient and easier to track when all your money matters are consolidated in one place.
After you have bought stocks via DBS Vickers using your CPF/SRS funds, you will see the stock value in your DBS digibank app. This way, you will not lose track on your investments.

New UI is intuitive and coherent to the DBS experience – a good foundation for more features
It is evident that DBS Vickers app has undergone a complete overhaul in order to serve its customer base better. The new UI is clean and modern with an emphasis on ease-of-use and coherent to the DBS experience. It also provides more information about stocks than before, which should ease the process of buying or selling shares.
But it isn’t merely cosmetics and ease-of-use. There is a tangible benefit of using DBS Vickers as you can get higher interest rates on your DBS Multiplier account. Another benefit is to see all your investments, including stocks you bought via DBS Vickers with cash, CPF and SRS, in your DBS digibank app. This gives you a holistic view of your finances and help you keep track of your investments better.
I believe this UI refresh is just the start of many more features to come on the DBS Vickers app as DBS has always worked on improving the user experience and solutions.
You can open a DBS Vickers account online and even do it via your digibank app. There’s no charges to open an account, so why not give it a try and experience it for yourself!
